If your kids are anything like mine, they are ROUGH on pants. In this house, we are lucky to get six months out of a pair of jeans without the knees disintegrating. Now, whether that is because we buy cheap pants or because the girls are hard on clothing, who knows. But the fact of the matter is, it was time to find a solution to those knees. And due to the fact that it has been HOT (don’t laugh…75-80ish), I decided to hack off the legs and sew a ruffle, effectively converting the jeans into cute skirts.

This one for Darsie was made using Blue Plaid from Felicity by Emily Taylor for Riley Blake for the ruffle and Gold Buttons from Wildwood by Erin McMorris for the band. To compliment, but also keep unique, this skirt for Elise was made using Blue Flowers from Felicity by Emily Taylor for Riley Blake. I might have to put a fabric flower or something on it, but it works for now.

The best part is the girls LOVE them and want to wear them everyday. Now I’m looking forward to finding holey knee jeans!
