Our summers are relatively mild here in the Pacific Northwest, but that doesn’t hinder our migration from indoor activities to outdoor activities. In fact, our summers are usually normally really gorgeous. Most evenings at our house are spent outdoors, with the kids playing on their bikes or digging in the dirt and my husband working on his car or boat projects. I have a hard time just sitting and watching so I’ve been dreaming up some hand sewing activities that don’t require a ton of gear.

For a couple of years now I’ve been dreaming of sewing a cathedral windows quilt. But seeing how I have a short attention span for sewing projects, I think I need to start out on a smaller scale, like a pillow cover.

So, what are your hand sewing projects for the summer?
